One consequence of thisis that the Java Telephony API has been refered to variously throughoutearlier documents. Please understand that Javatel,JTT and the Java Telephony Toolkit are names that have been used synonymouslyfor Java Telephony API or JTAPI.<p><H2> What is JTAPI? </H2>The Java Telephony API specifies the standardtelephony application programming interface for computer-telephoneapplications under Java. It is the definition for a reuseable setof call control objects that bring cross-platform andcross-implementation portability to telephony applications.It is a simple, extensible, object-oriented model that addresses a broad range of computer-telephony tasks.<p>The Java Telephony API represents the combined efforts of design teams from Sun, Lucent,Nortel, Novell, Intel, and IBM, all operating under the direction of JavaSoft.As of the 1.1 release, JTAPI is moving to a working group under ECTF. Moreinformation about this transition will appear on future versions of thispage. <p><H2> Your Input </H2>This specification is open to public comment.
