RELEASE NOTES
-------------

This 2nd release candidate for v0.1 allows community members
to test the engine with all planned features for v0.1 release,
and identify bugs which will need to be adressed before the v0.1 release.

Please post your experiences and screenshots/renders on our forums.

The current alpha LuxBlend exporter can be used for generating luxrender scenes.
See the LuxBlend forum on our site.

NOTE: testscenes now come in a separate archive. (can be shared among platforms)

NOTE: this release candidate is has various known issues which make it unsuitable
for any production rendering. Correct results are not guaranteed.

CHANGES SINCE v0.1 RC1 RELEASE

ENGINE

- New thread wide lowdiscrepancy sampler. much faster ;-) (radiance)
- Sunlight shadow bug is fixed. (tomb)
  NOTE! the sunlight model is still unfinished and is not yet physically correct!.
- Alpha/Black material in multi-/image film module Bug is fixed. (radiance)
- Render Film / Pixelfilters are sharper, due to a bug which is fixed. (radiance)
- Russian Roulette now forces transmission bounces in 'path' integrator. (radiance)
  This resolves the problem of darker transmissive materials.
  A parameter is added to the path integrator params to switch this on/off (default on)
  'bool rrforcetransmit' ["true"]
- Russian Roulette continue probability parameter added to 'path' integrator. (radiance)
  'float rrcontinueprob' [0.5f]
- The process set's its working directory to the opened scene file's so included files and textures
  are found relative to the scene file's location. (radiance & jromang)
- Silent crash if no lightsources were defined. The engine now throws an error message and exits. (radiance)
- all platforms now include luxconsole.exe, the command line version of the engine. (jromang)
- various tweaks and tunes to the multithreading implementation. (jromang)


KNOWN BUGS/ISSUES
-----------------

UI

- Restart (rewind) button in the GUI is currently disabled.
- Various buttons/widgets' resizing behaviour is incorrect.
- adding or removing threads while rendering in non-progressive, eg linear mode
  causes new threads to start at the top of the render film.
- Tonemapping pulldown is disabled.

ENGINE

- no normals on exit portals (altough they work from both sides ;-)
- uniform environment colours may be too light in darker geometric areas.
- area lights using trianglemeshes (aka mesh emitters) are very inefficient when used with more than
  a couple hundres faces due to missing sampling routines.
