A higher value can improve test run performanceby reducing communication between the JavaTest harness host and the testdevice. However, specifying a higher value also has its implications,as follows:

Packing several tests into one test bundle increases the memory size required to run that bundle. Out-of-memory errors can cause tests to fail, but more importantly, they can cause negative tests to pass erroneously. When increasing this value you must consider the amount of memory available on the test device.

Some test devices have an upper limit on the size of JAR files they can process. The maximum size of JAR files is controlled by the answer to the JAR File Size Limit question. See that question for more details.

Some tests are packed individually into test bundles regardless of thissetting.

For the smallest JAR files and largest communication overhead, specify a value of 1.
