<i>多态(Polymorphism) </i> 的意思是&ldquo;任何形式&rdquo;。在面向对象编程中，它指的是对象对同一个方法给出不同反应的能力。在 Java 语言中可以用多个具有相同名称的方法这种形式来实现多态。Java 代码使用后绑定技术来支持多态，在运行时决定调用哪一个方法。 </p>

<i>被重载的 </i> 方法是有相同名称、但是有不同的参数列表的方法。另一方面，当子类方法与超类方法有相同名称、相同返回类型， <i>以及 </i>相同参数列表时，就是 <i>覆盖 </i>。 </p>

<b>重载 </b>

正如我们提到的，被重载的方法必须有相同的名称和不同的参数列表。参数可能是类型或者数量不同，或者二者都不同。但是，被重载的方法的返回类型可以相同，也可以不同。它们可能有不同的访问修饰符，并可能抛出不同的 checked 异常。 </p>
<p>考虑用于输出数据的 <code>print()</code> 方法。数据可能是 <code>int</code>、 <code>boolean</code> 或者 <code>char</code>。对于每一种数据， <code>print()</code> 方法应该有不同的实现。我们可以使用如下的重载方法： </p>

子类可以重新定义从其超类继承的方法。这样，实际调用的方法取决于运行时调用对象的类型。覆盖方法必须与被覆盖的方法具有相同的名称、参数和返回类型。 </p>
<p>覆盖方法不能比被覆盖的方法有更少的公开性。覆盖方法不应该抛出原来方法没有声明的新的或者更一般性的 checked 异常。在下面的例子中，调用的是覆盖版本的 <code>print()</code> 方法，因为调用对象是派生的类的一个实例： </p>

<p>要在子类中调用超类版本的覆盖方法，可使用 <code>super.methodName()</code>。在上面的例子中，子类可以通过调用 <code>print()</code> 来使用超类 <code>super.print()</code>方法的功能。 </p>
<p>声明为 final 的方法不能被子类覆盖。尽管构造函数可以被重载，但是它们不能被覆盖，因为它们不会继承。 </p>
