GuestTrack uses a profile database to ask users questions on practically any Web page, and store the information in their personal profile. The GuestTrack ID is stored in the user's bookmark file, and most GuestTrack personalization is done with special tags in the HTML file. GuestTrack logs every web page displayed to every user so you can develop a "clickstream" view of what they saw, when they saw it, and for how long. Included in the GuestTrack system is an export module that creates a standard comma-delimited file that is compatible with most major database and spreadsheet programs. This provides the ability to sort, select, tabulate, report, and mine the data. The log contains the date and time in both traditional and Unix formats, as well as the individual's GuestTrack ID and the web page displayed. One of the frequent uses for the "include" function involves the navigation links that are repeated on practically every file within the website. Since an include file can use any GuestTrack personalization function, the included file can display profile information, modify links, or decide which piece of information to display. The feature allows for the customization of a site for every unique visitor.
