They involve classification and prediction (which is a form of classification into the future) and can best be accomplished through the use of neural networks and genetic algorithms (see Figure 1-2). These predictive models are constructed out of observed behavior of current visitors and customers and are designed to predict the behavior of future visitors. As with fraud-detection models created with neural networks, a web-based model is trained with a sampling of positive (Sale) and negative (No Sale) customer accounts.
