From this sample data set we attempted to identify specific website patterns leading to online sales and to identify some of the demographics of these visitors and customers. To do this we linked the forms database, which contained the visitor's ZIP code, and the server log file to a demographic data set from CACI known as the ACORN database.</FONT></TD><TD></TD></TR><TR> <TD COLSPAN=3></TD></TR><TR> <TD COLSPAN=3 HEIGHT=1></TD></TR></TABLE><A NAME='{58A}'/><TABLE BORDER=0 CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0><TR> <TD ROWSPAN=5></TD> <TD COLSPAN=3 HEIGHT=12></TD> <TD ROWSPAN=5></TD></TR><TR> <TD COLSPAN=3></TD></TR><TR><TD></TD> <TD><FONT FACE='Times New Roman, Times, Serif' SIZE=3>The ACORN Consumer Classification System provides a percentage of distribution by consumer type for all the ZIP codes in the United States. ACORN analyzes demographic profiles and classifies consumers according to the type of residential area in which they live. ACORN is a database designed to identify consumer profiles on 226,000 neighborhoods sorted by 60 lifestyle characteristics, such as income, home value, occupation, education, age, and other key determinants of consumer behavior. The ACORN is a neighborhood segmentation system containing 43 clusters, or consumer segments, which can be used to determine the lifestyle of customers on the basis of their ZIP code.
