A Request for Comment 2109 proposes "a way to create a stateful session with HTTP requests and responses. It describes two new headers, Cookie and Set-Cookie, which carry state information between participating origin servers and user agents." Basically RFC 2109 proposes a Version 1 of cookies which will extend their abilities and provide extra information that will make it easier for users to manage them.
