For example, a CGI program can be used to create and send HTTP headers to set cookies. Similarly, CGI can be used to dynamically serve specific content based on the type of product a user selects. Numerous websites offer the code for doing this. Aside from serving content dynamically, what is of more relevance to the analysis of your website traffic is the ability to use the same type of CGI programming to issue your visitors a unique identification number, with the objective being to code that number into every link on that html page as an extra argument. It takes the information from the browser in an HTTP request format and passes it to the program as a set of variables. When the server receives and processes the request, it parses the headers and transforms them into a list of variables that is sent to the CGI program as standard input when the program first begins. One of the most important uses of forms is the interaction with website visitors and customers.
