1. Introduction

TFax for Delphi is a component to allow the transmission of faxes from a Delphi application via a class 2 fax modem. While most fax applications install themselves as printer drivers, and hence can be used from Delphi applications, they require intervention from the user to enter a fax number. Apart from resulting in a less integrated application this precludes their use for automatic and group faxing procedures.

These are some of the fax component's features:

2. Copyright note and Registration

This component is shareware. If you wish to continue using the product after the 30 day trial period has expired you are expected to purchase the product using the registration form at the end of this document. The unregistered version will only operate with the Delphi development environment running.

This registration will entitle you to royalty free distribution and lifetime updates to the product, which will be posted to FTP areas. It also includes full source code. I will attempt to correct any reported bugs and implement any reasonable requested changes as soon as possible. Please provide an Internet mail address if you would like to be informed of new releases.

If you distribute TFax you must do so without changing anything in the original TFax zip file. You use this program at your own risk. I am not responsible for any loss or damage caused by the use of TableCSV. TFax is copyright 1997 Peter Johnson.


3. Installation

Unzip the FAX.ZIP file into a directory.

The following files will be created:
	FAX.DOC		- This file
	FAX.DCU		- Compiled unit containing the software
	FAX.DCR		- Resource containing the palette bitmap
	TFAX.KWF		- Keyword file for Delphi help system
	TFAX.HLP		- Online help file 

	FAXTEST.DPR		- Project file for test application
	FAXTESTFRM.DFM	- Delphi form file for test application
	FAXTESTFRM.PAS	- Pascal source for test application

From the Delphi IDE:
1. Choose Options | Install Components

	2. Click Add

	3. Click Browse

	4. Select the FAX.DCU file created in the first step

	5. Click the OK button

	6. Click the OK button

This procedure should install the TFax component on the 'Samples' page on the component palette.

To integrate the help file with the Delphi help system:
	1. Run HELPINST.EXE (in 'Program Files/Borland/Delphi 2.0/Help/Tools' by default)

2. Select the 'File|Open' menu option and open the DELPHI.HDX file. As the program that currently ships is 16-bit the files will be in DOS format. If the installation was placed in the default directory you will have to open '\PROGRA1~\BORLAND\DELPHI~1.0\BIN\ DELPHI.HDX'.

3. Select the 'Options|Search paths...' to enter a default search path that points to the directory containing the existing Delphi help and keyword files. Once again the directory is in DOS format. If Delphi was installed in the default location it will be '\progra~1\borland\delphi~1.0\help'.

4. Copy the TFAX.KWF and  TFAX.HLP files to the directory entered in step 3.

5. Select the 'Keywords|Add Keyword File...' menu option to install the new keyword file. Select the TFAX.KWF file from the directory into which it was copied.

6. Select the 'File|Save' menu option to save and compile the keyword file.

This procedure should integrate the TFax help file with the Delphi help file.

Refer to the online help under 'Adding and removing components from the library' for more information on component installation.

4. Notes on usage

Please refer to the included demo project and online documentation for information on using the component.

If you encounter any problems using the fax component in general or with a particular modem I will endeavour to correct the problem. I will require full details of the fax modem being used along a copy of the detailed log file that can be saved using the demo project. Please e-mail to [e-mail].
