We compiled the binaries for each of theplatforms listed in article<ACLASS="xref"HREF="ch52_03.htm"TITLE="Shrink-Wrapped Software for UNIX ">52.3</A>,and fully tested those for Red Hat Linux and Digital UNIX.</P></LI><LICLASS="listitem"><PCLASS="para"><ACLASS="indexterm"NAME="AUTOID-60548"></A><ACLASS="indexterm"NAME="AUTOID-60551"></A>Scripts that we wrote or adapted ourselves, and wanted toshare with our readers.  </P></LI></UL><PCLASS="para">In selecting freely availablesoftware to put on the disc, we've tried to emphasizequality over quantity.Too many free software archives load you upwith anything and everything they can find, without evaluating whetheror not it's worthwhile.You're faced with the job of wading througheverything to figure out whether it's worth using or not.</P><TABLECLASS="para.programreference"BORDER="1"><TR><THVALIGN="TOP"><ACLASS="programreference"HREF="examples/index.htm"TITLE="like this">like this</A><BR></TH><TDVALIGN="TOP"><ACLASS="indexterm"NAME="UPT-ART-9501-IX-POWER-TOOLS-CD-ROM"></A>Every program or script on the CD-ROM isat least mentioned somewhere in this book.
