In addition tocombining the useful features of both paradigms, there are synergisticeffects of this integration, such as the ability to define constraints overuser-defined domains. We discuss characteristics of the CIP family andprovide a rationale for its creation. The synergy of constraints andobjects imposes additional challenges for the provision of constructs, such as object identity and class membership, that are well-understood inconventional language paradigms. We discuss the benefits and challenges ofcombining the constraint and imperative paradigms, and present our currentideas in the context of the design and implementation of theKaleidoscope'93 language.

Click <!WA0>here to get the postscript file.
Return to <!WA1>Constraints home page
