related to the design ofnovel algorithms, protocols and architectures that enableefficient fault-tolerant parallel and distributedcomputing for scientific and commercial applications.This research program is a blend of basic research andexperimental systems activities, creating a balance betweentheory and practice.The experimental activitiesare centered in the <!WA22><a href="http://paradise.caltech.edu/lab.html">laboratory </a>for fault-tolerant paralleland distributed computing, which includesa cluster of powerful workstations all connectedvia communication hubs
