The Interaction Lab

<body background = "grey_dots.gif" TEXT="000022" LINK = "0000FF"VLINK = "0055CC">

<!WA0>

Volen Center for Complex Systems
Computer Science Department
Brandeis University
Waltham, MA 02254
tel: (617) 736-2715, fax: (617) 736-2741

<!WA1><!WA2><IMGSRC="http://www.cs.brandeis.edu/~agents/rib_bar_wh.gif">

The Interaction Lab is located in the <!WA9><AHREF="http://volen.ccs.brandeis.edu/index.html">Volen Center forComplex Systems at <!WA10>BrandeisUniversity, and is a part of the <!WA11><AHREF="http://www.cs.randeis.edu/index.html">Computer ScienceDepartment. Our mission is to study interaction dynamics atdifferent scales, including those within human cognitive systems,herds of physical robots, animal populations, and economies. We seekto understand the mechanisms that generate complex group behaviorsfrom local interactions between the agents/components/individuals, andto develop methods for principled synthesis and analysis of complexgroup behavior.

Research
Our work involves the following three areas:
Multi-agent robotics: including <!WA13><ahref="http://www.cs.brandeis.edu/~dani/hetero-homogeneous-groups.html">dynamic task division, specialization, learning behaviors andsocial rules, distributed spatial representations, synthesis and analysis of multi-robot controllers, and <!WA14><ahref="http://www.cs.brandeis.edu/~barry/Chaining.html">new approaches tomulti-robot systems.
