Arnold L. Rosenberg is Distinguished University Professor in the
<!WA1><a HREF="http://www.cs.umass.edu">Computer Science Department</a> at
the <!WA2><a HREF="http://www.cs.umass.edu/rcfdocs/newhome">
University of Massachusetts at Amherst</a>.  Prior to
joining UMass, he was a Professor of Computer Science at Duke
University from 1981 to 1986, and a Research Staff Member at the IBM
Watson Research Center from 1965 to 1981.  Rosenberg has held visiting
positions at the Technion (Israel Institute of Technology), Yale
University, and the University of Toronto.
<p>
Dr. Rosenberg's research focuses on theoretical aspects of parallel
architectures and communication networks, with emphasis on developing
algorithmic techniques for designing better networks and architectures
and using them more efficiently.  He is the author of more than 120
technical papers on these and other topics in theoretical computer
science and discrete mathematics.  He co-directs the
Theoretical Aspects of Parallel and Distributed Systems <!WA3><a
HREF="http://www.cs.umass.edu/~thtml/TPDP.html">TAPADS</a> Group with
Prof. <!WA4><a
HREF="http://www.cs.umass.edu/~thtml/people/fac/sitaraman.html">Ramesh
K. Sitaraman</a>.
<p>
Dr. Rosenberg is a Fellow of the ACM, a senior member of the IEEE, a
Golden Core member of the IEEE Computer Society, and a member of SIAM.
He is the editor-in-chief of the journal THEORY OF COMPUTING SYSTEMS
(formerly, MATHEMATICAL SYSTEMS THEORY).
<p>
Dr. Rosenberg received an A.B. in mathematics from Harvard College in
1962, and an A.M. and Ph.D. in applied mathematics from Harvard
University, in 1963 and 1966, respectively.
