Details of specific research projects are given below.I collaborate in these areas with researchers at Saskatchewan and elsewhere,including <!WA8><A HREF="http://www.sask.trlabs.ca/">TR<I>Labs</I></A>,<!WA9><A HREF="http://www.software.ibm.com/torcas/"> IBM Canada's Centre for Advanced Studies</A> in Toronto, and <!WA10><A the U of S, my research activities are rooted in<!WA16><A HREF="http://www.cs.usask.ca/projects/discus/"> the DISCUS Research Group</A>, a group we (<!WA17><A HREF="http://www.cs.usask.ca/homepages/faculty/eager/">Derek Eager</A>, <!WA18><A HREF="http://www.cs.usask.ca/homepages/faculty/carey/home.html"> Carey Williamson</A>,and I) formed to consolidate our common research interests in theperformance of distributed computing environments.Along with<!WA19><a href="http://www.cs.usask.ca/homepages/faculty/bunt/students/index.html">my graduate students</a>,I am presently engaged in a variety of projects, including:<ul><li> <!WA20><a href="http://www.cs.usask.ca/homepages/faculty/bunt/projects/mobile.html"> system and networking issues in mobile computing</a><li><!WA21><a href="http://www.cs.usask.ca/homepages/faculty/bunt/projects/caching.html">multi-level file caching in client/server environments</a><li><!WA22><a href="http://www.cs.usask.ca/homepages/faculty/bunt/projects/mandas.html"> performance issues in OSF DCE</a><br>(as part of <!WA23><A HREF="http://www.csd.uwo.ca/research/mandas/"cp>the MANDAS project</A> in collaboration with IBM Canada and colleaguesat five other universities)<li> <!WA24><a href="http://www.cs.usask.ca/homepages/faculty/bunt/projects/netman.html">network management in ATM networks</a>.</ul><!WA25><A HREF="http://www.cs.usask.ca/projects/discus/discus_pub.html"><!WA26><IMG alt="" SRC="http://www.cs.usask.ca/faculty/bunt/gifs/books.gif" align=right width=30 of recent students.<p><hr><font size=+2>Other University and Professional Activities<font size=+0><br>I sit as a Council member in the <!WA28><a HREF="http://www.usask.ca/cgsr/">College of Graduate Studiesand Research</a>and am a member of the Board of Directors of the University of Saskatchewan <!WA29><a HREF="http://www.usask.ca/facclub/">Faculty Club</a>.I am also active within <!WA30><A HREF="http://www.acm.org/sigmetrics/">ACMSIGMETRICS</a>, the special interest group for performance measurementand modelling.<p><font size=+2>Other Interests<font size=+0><br>My head may belong to the University of Saskatchewan,<!WA31><a href="http://www.seas.gwu.edu/nsarchive/nsa/elvis/elnix.html"><!WA32><img alt="ELVIS" src="http://www.cs.usask.ca/faculty/bunt/elvis.gif" align=right height=40 width=40></a>but my heart is with<!WA33><A HREF="http://spider.regina.ism.ca/riders/"> the Saskatchewan Roughriders</A> (the 1989 Grey Cup champs and hosts of the hugely successful1995 Grey Cup),<!WA34><A HREF="http://www.bluejays.com/"> the Toronto Blue Jays</A> (the 1992 <b>&</b> 1993 World Series champs), and<!WA35><A HREF="http://www.clever.net/bruins/"> the Boston Bruins</A> (soon to be Stanley Cup champs again).I also play third base for the 1994 & 1995 league and tournament champion <!WA36><a href="http://www.cs.usask.ca/homepages/faculty/bunt/bandits/index.html">Black Velvet Bandits</a>of the University of Saskatchewan Fastball League.And, of course, the <font color="#0eff08">U of S Huskies</font>, the 1990 Vanier Cup Champions, will get their licks in
