He receivedhis Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1991.From 1981 to 1983 Dr. Gerber was a Systems Engineer at the BurroughsCorporation, where he designed real-time operating systems fornetworking applications. In 1983 he founded SSI Inc., which designscustom architecture and kernel support for embedded communicationssystems.Dr. Gerber's research currently includes specification and automated analysis, programming languages, compiler support and operating systems.
