Snodgrass/h1></a><!WA2><img src="http://www.cs.arizona.edu/people/rts/images/rts.gif" alt="" height=202 width=202><P>Rick is a Professor of Computer Science at the<!WA3><a href = "http://www.arizona.edu">University of Arizona</a>. He joined the<!WA4><A href="http://www.cs.arizona.edu/general/department.html">Computer Science Department</A> in 1989. He has writtenor edited five books and about fifty journal and conference papers. He is anAssociate Editor of the <!WA5><A href="http://www.acm.org/tods">ACMTransactions on Database Systems</A>, the <!WA6><a href="http://manip.crhc.uiuc.edu/tkde.html">IEEETransactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering</A>, and the <!WA7><a href="http://science.springer.de/vldb/vldb.htm">International Journal on Very Large Databases</a>.He chaired the program committeesfor the 1994 SIGMOD Conference and the 1993 International Workshop onan Infrastructure for Temporal Databases. In addition, he has servedas a vice-chair or member of many program committees. He chaired the <!WA8><a href="ftp://FTP.cs.arizona.edu/tsql/tsql2">TSQL2</a> Language Design Committee, andis now working closely with the ISO <!WA9><a href="FTP://www.cs.arizona.edu/tsql/tsql2/sql3">SQL3</a> committee to add temporalsupport to that language. He initiated the SQL/Temporal part of the SQL3draft standard.<P>He holds aB.A. degree in Physics from <!WA10><a href = "http://physics.carleton.edu/">Carleton College</a>,and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from<!WA11><A href="http://www.cs.cmu.edu/afs/cs/Web/csd/csd.html">Carnegie MellonUniversity</A>.<P>He co-directs <!WA12><Ahref="http://www.iesd.auc.dk/general/DBS/tdb/TimeCenter/">T<FONT SIZE=-1>IME</FONT>C<FONTSIZE=-1>ENTER</FONT></A>, aninternational center for the support of temporal database applications ontraditional and emerging DBMS technologies.<P>His research interests include temporal databases, query language design, queryoptimization and evaluation, storage structures, database design, andsoftware development databases.<P><HR><H2>Recent Books</H2><P>Carlo Zaniolo, Stefano Ceri, Christos Faloutsos, Richard T.
