In the case of networkoptimization, decomposition into approximating linear networksubproblems is particularly attractive because of the correspondingvery fast solution techniques. The emphases of my research havebeen the development of new parallel optimization algorithms thatutilize these features and techniques such as genetic algorithmsto take advantage of distributed computing environments in orderto efficiently solve linear and nonlinear network optimizationproblems containing millions of variables.

Sample Recent Publications
Coordination in coarse-grained decomposition (with R.
