I have been involved in the developmentof new resource management policies for processing and data managementsystems. For both types of systems, general-purpose as well asreal-time scheduling algorithms have been considered. My researchinvolves performance studies of the different policies, with specialemphasis on the interplay between the properties of the systemand the performance of the policy. Since most of my performancestudies employ simulation, I am interested in discrete event modelingand simulation techniques. I am currently in the process of implementinga simulation laboratory that is based on a novel simulation language.The laboratory includes data management utilities, visualizationtools, and graphical interfaces. <P><H2> Sample Recent Publications </H2>Disk-tape joins: Synchronizing disk and tape access (with J.
