He received bachelor's degrees in both <!WA2><!WA2><!WA2><!WA2><!WA2><!WA2><!WA2><!WA2><!WA2><!WA2><!WA2><!WA2><ahref="http://www.cs.yale.edu"> Computer Science</a> and <!WA3><!WA3><!WA3><!WA3><!WA3><!WA3><!WA3><!WA3><!WA3><!WA3><!WA3><!WA3><ahref="http://www.mbb.yale.edu">Biochemistry</a> at <!WA4><!WA4><!WA4><!WA4><!WA4><!WA4><!WA4><!WA4><!WA4><!WA4><!WA4><!WA4><ahref="http://www.yale.edu">Yale University</a> in 1982. He landed a Ph.D.from the <!WA5><!WA5><!WA5><!WA5><!WA5><!WA5><!WA5><!WA5><!WA5><!WA5><!WA5><!WA5><a href="http://web.mit.edu"> MIT</a> <!WA6><!WA6><!WA6><!WA6><!WA6><!WA6><!WA6><!WA6><!WA6><!WA6><!WA6><!WA6><ahref="http://www.ai.mit.edu">Artificial Intelligence Lab</a> in 1988,received a Presidential Young Investigator's award in 1989 and an <!WA7><!WA7><!WA7><!WA7><!WA7><!WA7><!WA7><!WA7><!WA7><!WA7><!WA7><!WA7><ahref="http://www.onr.navy.mil">Office of Naval Research</a> YoungInvestigator's award in 1990. Weld is on theadvisory board for the <!WA8><!WA8><!WA8><!WA8><!WA8><!WA8><!WA8><!WA8><!WA8><!WA8><!WA8><!WA8><ahref="http://www.cs.washington.edu/research/jair/home.html"> Journal of AIResearch</a>, was guest editor for Computational Intelligence, edited the<!WA9><!WA9><!WA9><!WA9><!WA9><!WA9><!WA9><!WA9><!WA9><!WA9><!WA9><!WA9><a href="http://www.aaai.org"> AAAI</a> report on the <!WA10><!WA10><!WA10><!WA10><!WA10><!WA10><!WA10><!WA10><!WA10><!WA10><!WA10><!WA10><ahref="http://www.aaai.org/Publications/TechReports/Papers/nii.html"> Role ofIntelligent Systems in the National Information Infrastructure</a>, and isco-Program Chair for AAAI-96.
