He continued his studies at the University of Rochester, where he received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in computer science in 1986 and 1989. In 1989, he joined Rice University as a Research Faculty Fellow. His research interests include programming environments for parallel processing, parallel algorithms, multiprocessor synchronization, operating systems, and parallel computer architectures.
