<em>Research Interests</em><br>
John Lu's research interests include pointer analysis and
code transformations that utilize pointer analysis.
<p>  

<em>Background</em><br>
John graduated from Yale University in 1992 with a B.S.
in Applied Mathematics.  In the fall of 1992, he entered
the Computer Science Ph.D. program at Rice University and 
joined the Massively Scalar Compiler Project.<p>

<em>Current Work</em><br>
John's first project was to rewrite the <!WA3><a
href=ftp://cs.rice.edu/public/preston/optimizer/clean.ps.gz> cleaning pass</a> of the compiler in nuweb.<p>

Currently, he is investigating how to perform pointer analysis in a
C-like language.
He has a written a <!WA4><a HREF="http://www.cs.rice.edu/~jlu/draft.ps"> technical report</a> on the work
he has completed so far. <p>
