Research
My thesisresearch focussed on unsupervised classification (thecognitive ability to classify without any help from an omniscientsupervisor). Other research projects that I worked on during my MScincluded the Natural Language Processing Project as well as performinga comparison of inferring causal theories from data.
<!WA12> Ph.D. Research
Mywork with the classification problem has shown that it, like so manyother problems in AI, is intractable. It seems optimal solutions forthe tasks such as pattern recognition, classification and learning areintractable to perform on a serial computer. While understanding thenature of learning continues to be my goal, I want to study thecognitive processes involved in human learning in the hope of uncovering the computational principles that enable humans to perform these tasks in realtime.
<!WA13> Cognitive Science Related Links

<!WA14>Cognitive Science Group at the U of A.
<!WA15>Biological Computation Project at the U of A.
<!WA16>Cognitive Science at Georgia Tech (Everything you ever wanted to know about Cog Sci)
<!WA17>PSYCHE: Journal of Research in Consciousness

Other Interests
My home town
U of Sask
U of A
Comp Sc [U of A]

<!WA18><!WA19>
<!WA20><!WA21>
<!WA22><!WA23>
<!WA24><!WA25><IMG ALIGN=TOP SRC="http://web.cs.ualberta.ca/UAlberta/gif/tiny/UA.gif"ALT="[Link to UofA]">
<!WA26><!WA27><IMG ALIGN=TOP SRC="http://web.cs.ualberta.ca/gif/tiny/CS.gif"ALT="[Link to CS]">
