Since fall of 1994 I have been studiying<!WA0><A HREF="http://www.cc.gatech.edu/ai/">AI</A> (part of an interdisciplinary <!WA1><A HREF="http://www.cc.gatech.edu/cogsci/">Cognitive Science</A> program) at the <!WA2><A HREF="http://www.cc.gatech.edu/">College of Computing</A>, <!WA3><A HREF="http://www.gatech.edu/TechHome.html">Georgia Institute of Technology</A>.My advisor is <B>Professor<!WA4><A HREF="http://www.cc.gatech.edu/aimosaic/faculty/goel.html">Ashok Goel</A></B>and I am a member of his<!WA5><A HREF="http://www.cc.gatech.edu/aimosaic/faculty/goel/id/">Intelligence and Design</A> group.I obtained my bachelor's degree in the spring of 1994 from <!WA6><A HREF="http://riceinfo.rice.edu/">Rice University</A>where I was at<!WA7><A HREF="http://riceinfo.rice.edu/projects/colleges/wiess/">Wiess College</A>. I received my master's degree in the spring of1996 from <!WA8><A HREF="http://www.gatech.edu/TechHome.html">Georgia Institute of Technology</A>. <P>My research focuses on areas relating to reflection, specifically onusing high level functional models of a system's reasoning to performself-modification. In particular I have been working on a projectcalled SIRRINE which uses models of this sort for self-redesign in thecontext of multi-agent environments such as meeting scheduling. Theoverall paradigm that SIRRINE operates under describes learning as akind of design task; a reasoner is viewed as an abstract device andthe learning process involves redesign of the device. <P>During the summer of 1996 I am working at the <!WA9><A HREF="http://www.nist.gov">National Institute of Standards and Technology</A>within the<!WA10><A HREF="http://www.nist.gov/msid/groups/edtg.htm">Engineering Design Technolgies</A> group run by<!WA11><A HREF="http://www.nist.gov/msidstaff/sriram.ram.htm"> RamD. Sriram</A>. In particular I have been working on the Design CaseStudy Framework, a long term research project with the objective ofproviding a large scale database of human readable artifact designcases for the support of engineering design. My particularcontribution has centered around the issue of knowledge representationwithin this project, particularly with regards to modeling thefunctions of devices and their subsystems. <P>I have also worked as a Graduate Research Assistant on the HIPEDprojectwhich involves intelligent integration of heterogeneous data sourcesin the context of design of physical devices and is part of the<!WA12><A HREF="http://maco.dc.isx.com/iso/battle/i3.html">Intelligent Integration of Information Technology</A>project withinthe United States<!WA13><A HREF="http://www.darpa.mil">Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency</A>.In this project, my work centers around Interactive Kritik, an AIdesign system which currently acts as the intelligent agent at thecore of the HIPED system.
