I'mcurrently studying how to buffer large datasets from tertiary storageto disk and memory when such data are used for data exploration andvisualization (the <!WA3><!WA3><!WA3><!WA3><!WA3><!WA3><!WA3><!WA3><!WA3><!WA3><!WA3><!WA3><!WA3><!WA3><!WA3><!WA3><a href="http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~devise">DEVise</a>project). My advisor is Prof. <!WA4><!WA4><!WA4><!WA4><!WA4><!WA4><!WA4><!WA4><!WA4><!WA4><!WA4><!WA4><!WA4><!WA4><!WA4><!WA4><ahref="http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~pubs/faculty-info/miron.html">MironLivny</a>.<p>My recent work includes improving the performance of relational joinsof large volumes of disk and tape-resident data (see publication listbelow), and applying a log-structured organization to tertiary storageto solve problems associated with the diverse characteristics andfunctional limitations of tertiary media.
