Currently, he is trying to finish his <!WA9><!WA9><!WA9><!WA9><!WA9><!WA9><!WA9><!WA9><!WA9><!WA9><A HREF="http://www.cs.washington.edu/homes/sds/quals.html">qualifying exams</A>. His interests include <!WA10><!WA10><!WA10><!WA10><!WA10><!WA10><!WA10><!WA10><!WA10><!WA10><A HREF="http://www-hpcc.astro.washington.edu/">Computational Astronomy</A>,<!WA11><!WA11><!WA11><!WA11><!WA11><!WA11><!WA11><!WA11><!WA11><!WA11><A HREF="http://www.cs.washington.edu/research/projects/safety/www/">SoftwareSafety</A> and <!WA12><!WA12><!WA12><!WA12><!WA12><!WA12><!WA12><!WA12><!WA12><!WA12><A HREF="http://www.cs.washington.edu:80/research/projects/zpl/">Parallel Programming Languages</a>. <P>He recently participated in a panel at the <!WA13><!WA13><!WA13><!WA13><!WA13><!WA13><!WA13><!WA13><!WA13><!WA13><A HREF="http://www.cra.org">CRA</A><!WA14><!WA14><!WA14><!WA14><!WA14><!WA14><!WA14><!WA14><!WA14><!WA14><A HREF="http://www.cra.org/Conferences/Snowbird.html">Conference at Snowbird</A> entitled "Retainingand Mentoring Minority Students from Underrepresented Groups". For those that are interested, here is a description of the <!WA15><!WA15><!WA15><!WA15><!WA15><!WA15><!WA15><!WA15><!WA15><!WA15><A HREF="http://www.cs.washington.edu/homes/borning/tutoring.html">Undergraduate Tutoring and Mentoring Program</A> here at the University of Washington.<P>Within the department he is co-editor of <!WA16><!WA16><!WA16><!WA16><!WA16><!WA16><!WA16><!WA16><!WA16><!WA16><A HREF="http://www.cs.washington.edu/publications/mossybits/autumn95"/>Mossy Bits</A>,and one of the senators for <!WA17><!WA17><!WA17><!WA17><!WA17><!WA17><!WA17><!WA17><!WA17><!WA17><A HREF="http://www.grad.washington.edu/gpss">GPSS</A>, the<!WA18><!WA18><!WA18><!WA18><!WA18><!WA18><!WA18><!WA18><!WA18><!WA18><A HREF="http://www.grad.washington.edu">graduate student</A>senate here at the University of Washington,although it is common knowledge that he was appointed because ofhis ability to bend the wills of men rather than for any literaryor political skills.<BR><HR><BR>When he is not<!WA19><!WA19><!WA19><!WA19><!WA19><!WA19><!WA19><!WA19><!WA19><!WA19><A HREF="http://www.cs.washington.edu/homes/sds/images/office.working.gif">working</A> he can be foundlistening to <!WA20><!WA20><!WA20><!WA20><!WA20><!WA20><!WA20><!WA20><!WA20><!WA20><A HREF="http://www.soasoas.com">Jimmy Buffett</A>,waxing philosophical about his glory days on <!WA21><!WA21><!WA21><!WA21><!WA21><!WA21><!WA21><!WA21><!WA21><!WA21><A HREF="http://wso.williams.edu/orgs/wufo/">WUFO</A>,or <!WA22><!WA22><!WA22><!WA22><!WA22><!WA22><!WA22><!WA22><!WA22><!WA22><A HREF="http://www.cs.washington.edu/homes/sds/quote.html">(mis)quoting</A> some of the finest minds of our time.
