That means Imostly panic about my quals project.<p><!WA9><!WA9><!WA9><!WA9><!WA9><!WA9><!WA9><!WA9><!WA9><!WA9><!WA9><!WA9><img align=top src=http://www.cs.washington.edu/homes/eric/pix/tinybullet.gif>I'm also trying to write some papers with Prof. <!WA10><!WA10><!WA10><!WA10><!WA10><!WA10><!WA10><!WA10><!WA10><!WA10><!WA10><!WA10><a href="http://www.cs.duke.edu/cgi-bin/facinfo?hsg">Henry Greenside</a>of <!WA11><!WA11><!WA11><!WA11><!WA11><!WA11><!WA11><!WA11><!WA11><!WA11><!WA11><!WA11><a href="http://www.cs.duke.edu/">Duke University</a>(and recently finished a <!WA12><!WA12><!WA12><!WA12><!WA12><!WA12><!WA12><!WA12><!WA12><!WA12><!WA12><!WA12><a href=http://www.cs.washington.edu/homes/eric/abstract.html>master's thesis </a>by myself) onsteady-state solutions of a particular nonlinear biharmonic PDE.Because the stability criterion for explicit methods is so restrictive(a fourth power of the spatial resolution), implicit timesteppingmethods such as backwards Euler are necessary.  The numerical analysisissues involve Newton's method for solving the implicit nonlinearequations, sparse matrix solution methods for solving for the Newtonstep, and some interplay between them.<p>And the <!WA13><!WA13><!WA13><!WA13><!WA13><!WA13><!WA13><!WA13><!WA13><!WA13><!WA13><!WA13><a href="http://www.cs.washington.edu/homes/eric/pictures.html">pictures <!WA14><!WA14><!WA14><!WA14><!WA14><!WA14><!WA14><!WA14><!WA14><!WA14><!WA14><!WA14><img src=http://www.cs.washington.edu/homes/eric/rd.gif alt="(picture)" align=middle> </a> can be really spiffy.<p><!WA15><!WA15><!WA15><!WA15><!WA15><!WA15><!WA15><!WA15><!WA15><!WA15><!WA15><!WA15><img align=top src=http://www.cs.washington.edu/homes/eric/pix/tinybullet.gif>I'm working on an <!WA16><!WA16><!WA16><!WA16><!WA16><!WA16><!WA16><!WA16><!WA16><!WA16><!WA16><!WA16><a href=http://www.cs.washington.edu/homes/eric/nbody.html>n-body</a> code for astrophysics simulation.
