The course will emphasize hands-ondevelopment of games. We will study a variety of software technologiesrelevant to games including programming languages, scriptinglanguages, operating systems, file systems, networks, simulationengines, and multi-media design systems. We will also study some ofthe underlying scientific concepts from computer science and relatedfields including: simulation and modeling, graphics, artificialintelligence, real-time processing, and game theory. Finally, we willstudy the art and design principles for developing usuable andengaging games including: software engineering, human computerinteraction, thematic structure, graphic design, choreography, musicsand sound effects, and game aesthetics.<p>The course will include visiting lectures and a variety of groupprojects. The group projects will involve system implementation, butemphasize design and use of existing tools.
