demo application shows how WiSNAP can be used to realize a few simple
applications using image sensors and wireless motes. It provides a good
starting point for users who would like to develop their own applications.</p>

<h3>Description</h3>
<p class=MsoNormal style='mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto'>The
demo application with network configuration 1 shows a simple event detection algorithm.
It assumes that an Agilent ADCM-1670 camera module is connected to serial port ‘COM2’.
The application determines the number of pixels on two successive images, whose
difference in grayscale value exceeds a certain threshold value. For stationary
scenes observed by the camera module, this number of pixel is usually small
subject to temporal image noise. Changes in the observed scene will typically
cause a significant increase in this number of pixels. Hence, this pixel metric
may be used to trigger event-based wireless image sensor networks.</p>
<p class=MsoNormal style='mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto'><![if !supportEmptyParas]> <![endif]><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal style='mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto'>The
demo application with network configuration 2 demonstrates the same event
detection algorithm of configuration 1 for an Agilent ADNS-3060 optical mouse
sensor as image sensor.</p>
<p class=MsoNormal style='mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto'><![if !supportEmptyParas]> <![endif]><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal style='mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto'>Running
the demo application under network configuration 3 gives an example of range-
and vision-based node localization. The demo application assumes that a Chipcon
CC2420DB demonstration board is connected to serial port ‘COM1’ and an Agilent
ADCM-1670 camera module to serial port ‘COM2’. Additionally, a second,
stand-alone demonstration board is required, which has a location LED connected
to its GPIO pin on connector P3. Both Chipcon demonstration boards should be programmed
with the ATmega128 program “cc2420db_library.hex” provided in this software package.
The demo application will determine the second mote’s position relative to the
camera module from the received signal strength indicator (RSSI) and from the
angle under which the location LED is seen. Hence, the camera mote is able
determine the absolute position of the LED mote if the RSSI value can be
calibrated to absolute distance.</p>

exit the demo application, press the Escape key at any time. If the hardware setup
differs from the one described here, the system parameters in the demo
application need to be changed accordingly.</p>
