<h3><a name="QUICKSTART" id="QUICKSTART"></a>Quick Start</h3>

<li>File tree, here you can see file names, sizes, presence of meta-data file (BIX) and file's last modification date/time. This widget shows tree of files starting in selected directory. To choose initial directory use "Choose directory". DN will remember last used directory and open it automatically on next runs. </li>
<li>Meta-data fields that reflect configuration defined by selected template file and contents of meta-data file (BIX). To choose another template simply go to menu "Template" and choose one of provided templates. DN will remember last used template and open it automatically on next runs. </li>
<li>Current template's name.</li>
<li>Choose directory button .</li>
<li>Thumbnail and image's embedded meta-data.</li>

<h3><a name="SETUP" id="SETUP"></a>First session: set-up </h3>
<ol>
<li>Start the program. The Digital Notebook will appear on the screen with a file tree on the left hand of the screen a set of widgets with default values on the right.</li>
<li>Use the <strong>Template </strong> menu to select the appropriate configuration file:</li>

<li>Use the <strong>Options</strong> menu to configure <strong>BISQUE Login</strong> for image and meta-data upload.</li>

<h3><a name="BATCHSAVE" id="BATCHSAVE"></a>How to use the <strong>Save As Batch</strong> function</h3>

<li>In the file tree select all the files you wish to update.</li>
<li>Make the appropriate changes to the metadata fields.</li>
<li>Use the checkboxes to select the metadata fields that you wish to change.</li>
<li>Click the <strong>Save As Batch</strong> button. The values in the checked metadata fields will be saved to each file that was selected in the file tree.</li>

<h3><a name="UPLOAD" id="UPLOAD"></a>How to use the <strong>Upload</strong> function</h3>

<li>In the file tree select all the files you wish to upload (with previously created meta-data files if needed).</li>
<li>Click the <strong>Upload</strong> button. If BISQUE login is not configured, you will prompted to enter your login information. </li>

<h3><a name="PRINT" id="PRINT"></a>How to use the <strong> Print</strong> function</h3>
<ol>
<li>Use the checkboxes to select the metadata fields that you wish to print.</li>
<li>In the file tree select all the files you wish to include in your report.</li>
<li>Click the <strong> Print</strong> button. A print preview will appear with the fields you selected for the files you selected.</li>
<li>In the print dialog box click <strong>Print</strong>.</li>

<h3><a name="HINTS" id="HINTS"></a>Helpful hints</h3>
<ol>
<li>Use the <strong>Check All</strong> and <strong>Uncheck All</strong> buttons to check or clear all of the checkboxes at once.</li>
<li>Use the <strong>Reload</strong> button to update the files in the file tree box. </li>
</ol>
