<A. Requirements>

  kernel source tree (supported versions 2.4.x or 2.6.x)
  compiler/binutils for kernel compilation

<B. Building and Installation>

  B-1: Login as root.

  B-2: Untar/unzip archive:
  	tar -zxvf dm9ks_x.x.tar.gz

  B-3: Change to the directory
  	cd dm9ks_x.x

  B-4: Compile the driver module
  	-Kernel 2.4
  	  Please according to your system to pick one.
     	    make     	;;Without SMP support
     	    make mod	;;Set version info on all module symbol
     	    make smp	;;symmetric multi-processing(SMP) support
     	    make smp_mod	;;SMP & Set version info on module
	    make checksum	;;Set TX/RX Checksum offload
	-Kernel 2.6
	    make
  B-5: Install the module:
       -Kernel 2.4
       insmod dm9ks.o <parameter>=<value>
       -Kernel 2.6
       insmod dm9ks.ko <parameter>=<value>

  B-6: Assign an IP address to the interface by entering the following,
       where x is the interface number:
     	 ifconfig ethx <IP_address>

  B-7: Verify that the interface works. Enter the following, where
       <IP_address> is the IP address for another machine on the
       same subnet as the interface that is being tested:
            ping  <IP_address>

  <C. The parameters of installing module>
  If the driver is built as a module, the following optional parameters are
  used by entering them on the command line with the modprobe or insmod command
  using this syntax:
     insmod dm9ks.[k]o [<parameter>=<VAL1>,<VAL2>,...]

  The default value for each parameter is generally the recommended setting,
  unless otherwise noted.

  C-1: Intro parameters

  - irq (IRQ number)
    default value :3
    ex.
    	insmod irq=5 ;;inster module with irq number=5

  - iobase (I/O base adddress)
    default value: the program will reach from 0x300 to 0x370 automatically.
    ex.
    	insmod iobase=0x310 ;;inster module with I/O base address=0x310

  - mode (Media Speed)
    default value: Auto Detection
    ex.
    	insmod dm9ks.o           ;;Auto Detection Mode
        insmod dm9ks.o mode=0    ;;Force 10M Half Duplex
        insmod dm9ks.o mode=1    ;;Force 100M Half Duplex
        insmod dm9ks.o mode=4    ;;Force 10M Full Duplex
        insmod dm9ks.o mode=5    ;;Force 100M Full Duplex

   C-2: For Redhat, You can use the following to Activate NIC

	1.  login as root.
	2.  copy dm9ks.[k]o into /lib/modules/2.4.x[2.6.x]/kernel/drivers/net/
	3. add the new line with "alias ethx dm9ks" in "/etc/module.conf".
	4.  execute "netconfig -d ethx".
	5. Fill your IP address, netmask and gateway
