The <a href="serice.htm">SerialICE Monitor</a> (running on the 
<a href="ctypes.htm">SerialICE Controller</a>) and the 
<a href="icekern.htm">SerialICE Kernel</a>
(running on the <a href="ttypes.htm">Target</a>) 
<a href="iceproto.htm">communicate</a> via 
a standard RS-232 serial link.
It is possible to configure the SerialICE Kernel to use either a standard
UART (or DUART), or LSI Logic's SerialICE Port core. The SerialICE Port core has the
advantage that it takes up no Target board area.<p>

Please note that the connection between the SerialICE Controller's B port and the
Target's A port must be made using a null modem cable.<p>
