You will need a C compiler that generates MIPS code. This is used
to compile the modules in the lib, mon, pmon, and imon directories.
LSI currently supports the following toolsets.<p>

<dt><a href="http://www.algor.co.uk">Algorithmics</a>
        <dd>Algorithmics sells (among other things) a MIPS
        cross compiler package (based on the GNU compiler)
        and evaluation boards for MIPS CPUs.
        <p>
<dt><a href="http://www.cygnus.com">Cygnus Solutions</a>
        <dd>Cygnus Solutions sells support for the GNU compiler package.
        Their compiler does support the MIPS16
	instruction set.
        <p>
<dt><a href="http://www.tasking.nl">BSO/Tasking</a>
        <dd>BSO/Tasking sells (among other things) a cross compiler
        for MIPS CPUs. They also sell a GUI debugger (Crossview) that
	can interface directly with a serialIce-1 kernel. Without the
	need for the SerialICE Controller board.

        Embedded Performance</a>
        <dd>Embedded Performance sells (among other things) a cross
        compiler for MIPS CPUs.

        Green Hills Software</a>
        <dd>Green Hills sells (among other things) a cross
        compiler for MIPS CPUs.  Their compiler does support the MIPS16
	instruction set. They also sell a GUI debugger (Multi) that
	can interface directly with a serialIce-1 kernel, without the
	need for the SerialICE Controller board.

When using the PMON source package, you can invoke your chosen toolset
via the <a href="tools/pmcc.htm">pmcc</a> command. This command is
designed to hide the differences between the different compilers and
assemblers.<p>
