The <a href="debgs1b.htm">Debugger</a> (running on the Host) and the <a
href="icekern.htm">SerialICE Kernel</a> (running on the <a
href="ttypes.htm">Target</a>) <a href="iceproto.htm">communicate</a> via
a standard RS-232 serial link or hardware <a
href="wiggler.htm">wiggler</a>.  It is possible to configure the
SerialICE Kernel to use either a standard UART (or DUART), or LSI
Logic's SerialICE Port core.  The SerialICE Port core has the advantage
that it takes up no Target board area.<p>
