The most recent itemwill appear at the top of the list.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in; font-weight: medium"><B>Search...</B>:Opens a new Search window.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in; font-weight: medium"><B>Findduplicates...</B>: Opens a new Find Duplicates window.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in; font-weight: medium"><B>Print..</B>:Opens a print dialog.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>New folder...</B>: Creates a newfolder in the current path.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in; font-weight: medium"><B>Copy...</B>:Opens a dialog to select a destination to copy the currently selectedfiles.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in; font-weight: medium"><B>Move...</B>:Opens a dialog to select a destination to move currently selectedfiles.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Rename...</B>: Renames the currentfile selection.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Delete...</B>: Deletes the currentfile selection.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Close window</B>: Closes the windowcontaining the menu, if the window is the last main window GQviewwill quit.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Quit</B>: Quits the GQviewapplication, if collections have been changed but not saved, the userwill be prompted for confirmation.</P><P><U>Edit menu</U></P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>in <command name>...</B>:This will execute the external command associated with <commandname>, these can be changed edited on the <A HREF="10_5_editor_commands.html">Editorstab</A> of the Option dialog.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Adjust</B> sub menu:</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 1.58in"><B>Rotate clockwise</B>: Rotates thecurrent image clockwise 90 degrees, does not effect the file on disk.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 1.58in"><B>Rotate counterclockwise</B>:Rotates the current image counterclockwise 90 degrees, does noteffect the file on disk.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 1.58in"><B>Rotate 180</B>: Rotates the currentimage 180 degrees, does not effect the file on disk.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 1.58in"><B>Mirror</B>: Swaps the left andright sides of the image so that the result is similar to that oflooking at the image in a mirror, does not effect the file on disk.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 1.58in"><B>Flip</B>: Swaps the top and bottomsides of the image, does not effect the file on disk.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Properties</B>: Opens a PropertiesWindow for the currently selected files.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Select all</B>: Selects all filesdisplayed in the file list.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Select none</B>: Clears the currentfile selection.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Preferences...</B>: Opens the<A HREF="10_options.html">Preferences Dialog</A> for changing of userpreferences.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Thumbnail maintenance</B>: Opens adialog with utilities to manage cached thumbnails and keywords data.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Set as wallpaper</B>: Renders thecurrent image to the root window (desktop). The resulting image willbe tiled to fit the root window if zoom is not set to <U>fit towindow</U>; when zoom is set to <U>fit to window</U>, the image willbe scaled to fill the root window.</P><P><U>View menu</U></P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Zoom in</B>: Increases the zoom byone increment, resulting in a larger image.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Zoom out</B>: Decreases the zoom byone increment, resulting in a smaller image.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Zoom 1:1</B>: Resets the zoom tothe original size of the image.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Zoom to fit</B>: Automaticallyadjusts the zoom so that the image will fit within the display pane.The effect on images with an original size smaller than the displaypane can be changed with the <U>Allow enlargement of image for zoomto fit</U><SPAN STYLE="text-decoration: none"> option located on the<A HREF="10_2_image.html">Image tab</A> of the preferences dialog</SPAN>.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Thumbnails</B>: Toggles the displayof image thumbnails in the file list, this item is not available whenthe file list is in icon view mode. A check appears next to this itemwhen thumbnails are enabled.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>List</B>: Changes the file list todisplay files in list format.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Icons</B>: Changes the file list todisplay files as icons.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Tree</B>: Toggles the folder listbetween simple and tree modes. A check appears next to this item whenthe folder is in tree mode.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Full screen</B>: Toggles the fullscreen window display.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Float file list</B>: Toggles thelocation of the menu bar, tool bar, status bar, and file listsbetween the main window and a second window. A check appears next tothis item when the location is the second window.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Hide file list</B>: Togglesvisibility of the menu bar, tool bar, status bar, and file lists.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Hide toolbar</B>: Togglesvisibility of the tool bar. A check appears next to this item whenthe tool bar is not visible.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Keywords</B>: Toggles display ofthe Keywords sidebar.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Exif data</B>: Toggles display ofthe EXIF sidebar.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Sort manager</B>: Toggles displayof the Sort Manager sidebar.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Toggle slideshow</B>: Begins orends a slide show, the slide show status is displayed in the statusbar.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Refresh</B>: Updates the contentsof the folder and file lists to match what is currently on disk, thecurrent image will also be reread from disk.</P><P><U>Help menu</U></P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Contents</B>: Open the GQview usermanual in a new browser window.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Keyboard shortcuts</B>: Displays awindow listing the default keyboard shortcuts.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>Release notes</B>: Displays awindow containing the release notes for the version of GQview in use.</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><B>About</B>: Opens a windowcontaining the GQview version, credits, website, and email contactinformation.</P><P><BR><BR></P><P><U>Tear off menus</U></P><P>Menus can be permanently displayed by selecting the dotted lineitem at the top of each menu category. A tear off menu will behavethe same as an ordinary window. To close a tear off menu, select thedotted line item at the top of the menu.</P><P><BR><BR></P><P><U>Keyboard shortcuts</U></P><P>The keyboard sequence associated to each menu entry is listedwithin the main window menu bar. For reference, the complete list ofdefault keyboard shortcuts can be found in section <A HREF="11_2_keyboard_shortcuts.html">11.2Keyboard Shortcuts</A>.</P><P><BR><BR></P><P><U>Changing the main window menu bar keyboard shortcuts</U></P><P STYLE="text-decoration: none">The keyboard shortcuts associatedwith the menu bar items can be changed by editing the accels filelocated in the GQview configuration folder <B>while the GQviewapplication is not running</B>:</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><CODE><SPAN STYLE="text-decoration: none">($HOME)/.gqview/accels</SPAN></CODE></P><P><SPAN STYLE="text-decoration: none">To change a menu item, firstfind the line corresponding to the menu item</SPAN> to change. Forexample the File menu Quit line originally looks like this:</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><CODE><SPAN STYLE="text-decoration: none">;(gtk_accel_path "<main>/File/Quit" "<Control>q")</SPAN></CODE></P><P STYLE="text-decoration: none">To change this menu's keyboardshortcut, first remove the leading semicolon (;), removing thesemicolon will tell GQview that this menu item has been customized.Then change the keyboard shortcut defined by the text in quotes atthe end of the line, be sure to only change the text within thequotes; in this case the text “<control>q”. Forexample changing the shortcut associated with Quit to the Q key willresult in this line:</P><P STYLE="margin-left: 0.79in"><CODE><SPAN STYLE="text-decoration: none">(gtk_accel_path"<main>/File/Quit" "q")</SPAN></CODE></P><P STYLE="text-decoration: none">Please note the removed semicolonand the change of “<control>q” to “q”,be careful not to change any of the other text on the line or GQviewmay ignore the customization.
