<P>A <strong>Generation</strong> is a specific <a href="Glossary.Objects.Population.html">Population</a>, usually referenced by time. Since most implements deal with discrete units of time, this is usually simplified to an integer.</P>
<P>Most implementations also work with only one <strong>Generation</strong> at a time, namely the <strong>Current Generation</strong>, though this <strong>Generation</strong> may contain <a href="Glossary.Objects.Individual.html">Individual</a>s from previous <strong>Generation</strong>s.</P>

<p>In this framework, there is no <em>Generation class</em>, per se. Instead, the framework keeps track of the <strong>Current Generation</strong> using a <a href="GeneticProgrammingEngine.Internal.Population.html">Population</a> (called <a href="GeneticProgrammingEngine.GPEngine.CurrentPopulation.html">CurrentPopulation</a>) and an integer (called <a href="GeneticProgrammingEngine.GPEngine.CurrentGeneration.html">CurrentGeneration</a>). </p>
<p>The framework also creates a <a href="GeneticProgrammingEngine.Internal.GenerationHistory.html">GenerationHistory</a> when a <strong>Current Generation</strong> is <a href="Glossary.Actions.test.html">test</a>ed. This contains all of the <a href="GeneticProgrammingEngine.ProblemSpace.IHistory.html">IHistory</a> instances generated by the <strong>test</strong>. </p>
