.SH DESCRIPTION

.I zero_pad
reads data from the fea file 
.I input.fea
and copies it to the fea file 
.I output.fea.  
Additional records are appended to the data from
.I input.fea,
unless the 
.BI \-i
option is specified, in which case they are written to 
.I output.fea
before the data from 
.I input.fea.  
By default the additional records are
empty (the fields in the records are zeros) unless the
.BI \-d 
option is specified.

The following options are supported:

.BI \-x " debug_level \fR[0]\fP"
If 
.I debug_level
is positive,
.I zero_pad
prints debugging messages and other information on the standard error
output.  The messages proliferate as the  
.I debug_level
increases.  If \fIdebug_level\fP is 0 (the default), no messages are
printed.

If specified, the additional records are written to 
.I outfile.fea
before the data of 
.I input.fea.
If not specified, the additional records are written
to 
.I outfile.fea
after the data of 
.I input.fea.

specifies the number of additional records which should be written
to 
.BI output.fea.

.BI \-L " padding \fR[0]\fP"
specifies in seconds the duration of the additional data which
should be written to

The generic header item 
.BI record_freq
is read from the header of 
.BI input.fea
to convert the duration from seconds to records.

and
.BI \-l
cannot be used together.

specifies that data from 
.BI input.fea
should be extended to provide the additional records.  The default
is to use empty records.  If 
.BI \-i 
is specified, the first record of 
.I input.fea
is duplicated to provide the additional
data needed to prepend. 
If 
.BI \-i 
is not specified, the last record of
.I input.fea 
is duplicated to provide the data to append.
