     sdtofea - convert sampled-data file to FEA_SD file

     This program accepts an ESPS SD(5-ESPS)  file  _i_n_p_u_t._s_d  and
     writes an ESPS FEA_SD(5-ESPS) file _o_u_t_p_u_t._f_e_a containing the
     same sampled data.  If the value of  _h_d._s_d - >_n_c_h_a_n  in  the
     type-specific  part  of the input header is 1 or greater, it
     gives the number of channels---each output  record  consists
     of  that  number of consecutive samples from the input file.
     A value of either 0 or 1 indicates  a  single-channel  file.
     The  output  data  type  is  the  same (DOUBLE, FLOAT, LONG,
     SHORT, or BYTE) as the input data type.

     If _i_n_p_u_t._s_p_e_c is "-", standard input is used for  the  input
     file.  If _o_u_t_p_u_t._f_e_a is "-", standard output is used for the
     output file.

     The following option is supported:

     ----xxxx _d_e_b_u_g__l_e_v_e_l
          Positive values of _d_e_b_u_g__l_e_v_e_l cause debugging informa-
          tion  to  be  printed.   The  default value is 0, which
          suppresses the messages.

     No parameter file is read.

     The ESPS common file is not accessed.

EEEESSSSPPPPSSSS HHHHEEEEAAAADDDDEEEERRRRSSSS
     The  output  header  is  a  new  FEA_SD  file  header,  with
     appropriate  items  copied from the input header.  The value
     of the item _s_f in the type-specific part of the input header
     is recorded in a generic header item _r_e_c_o_r_d__f_r_e_q in the out-
     put.  The type-specific input header items _e_q_u_i_p, _m_a_x__v_a_l_u_e,
     _s_r_c__s_f, _s_y_n_t__m_e_t_h_o_d, _s_c_a_l_e, _d_c_r_e_m, _q__m_e_t_h_o_d, _v__e_x_c_i_t__m_e_t_h_o_d,
     _u_v__e_x_c_i_t__m_e_t_h_o_d, _s_y_n_t__i_n_t_e_r_p, _s_y_n_t__p_w_r, _s_y_n_t__r_c, _s_y_n_t__o_r_d_e_r,
     _s_t_a_r_t,  and _n_a_n, except those with null values, are saved as
     like-named generic header items  in  the  output  file.   (A
     ``null'' value is a value, such as zero, NONE, or NULL, that
     indicates that an item is inapplicable.)  If _p_r_e_e_m_p_h_a_s_i_s  in
     the  input  header  is  non-NULL, it gives rise to 3 generic
     header    items    in    the    output:     _p_r_e_e_m_p_h_a_s_i_s__s_i_z,
     _p_r_e_e_m_p_h_a_s_i_s__z_e_r_o_s,      and      _p_r_e_e_m_p_h_a_s_i_s__p_o_l_e_s      (see
     _a_d_d__g_e_n_z_f_u_n_c(3-ESPSu)).   Similarly  _d_e__e_m_p,  if   non-NULL,
     gives rise to _d_e__e_m_p__s_i_z_e, _d_e__e_m_p__z_e_r_o_s, and _d_e__e_m_p__p_o_l_e_s in

     the output.  Generic header items in the input  file  header
     are  copied  to  the  output  header after being renamed, if
     necessary, to avoid name conflicts.  As usual,  the  command
     line  is  added  as a comment, and the header of _i_n_p_u_t._s_d is
     added as a source file to _o_u_t_p_u_t._f_e_a.
