.I genhd_type
returns a code indicating if \fIname\fR is defined as an generic
header item for the ESPS file header pointed to by \fIhd\fR and its type.

If \fIname\fR is defined then one of 
\s-1\fBDOUBLE, FLOAT, LONG, SHORT\s+1, CODED\fR, or \fB\s-1CHAR\fR\s+1
is returned as the function value and the size of the item is returned
through \fIsize\fR.
\fB\s-1HD_UNDEF\s+1\fR is returned if \fIname\fR is not defined.
