spsfix \- repair incorrect ndrec fields in file headers

.SH DESCRIPTION
.PP
.I Spsfix
repairs the
.i ndrec
values in SPS file headers, by computing how many records would
fit between the header and the end of the file and comparing that
to the field in the header.  Record size is determined by using
the
.I size_rec
(3-SPS)
function.  The program will work on any type of SPS file.
Non-SPS files are ignored by
.IR spsfix ;
so one can use wildcards to repair all the files 
information.
.SH OPTIONS

.B \-v
This option causes
.I spsfix
to report on every file in the argument list.  By default,
only files that are changed, and files that cannot be opened,
cause messages.

.B \-i
If this command is given, the user is asked for permission to
modify each file that requires modification.  If the answer begins
with 'y' or 'Y', the file is modified; any other answer is interpreted
as no.

.B \-n
If this option is given,
.I spsfix
reports on files with incorrect
.I ndrec
values, but doesn't change anything.
.SH SPS PARAMETERS

This program does not access the parameter file.
.SH DIAGNOSTICS

.I Spsfix
informs the user if any files cannot be opened; it still goes on
and processes its remaining arguments, if any.

If the header format is ever modified in such a way that reading the
header and writing it back results in a header of a different length,
this program will break, and break badly.
