Section 1.1 - Raw ICQ Support (work not begun!)=============================This will probably not happen. Raw ICQ support would have used the Net::ICQmodule which is no longer in development, and I don't have the time to devoteinto learning the ICQ protocol (all 7 versions of it). The RMS plug-in forLicq seems to be the best way to go about using ICQ in AndyChat.Section 1.2 - The Licq RMS Plug-in (work not begun!)==================================This is a very exciting feature which will hopefully evolve dramatically overthe next few months. By using the RMS plug-in for Licq (which is in CVS justincase you're looking for it :P), you can use AndyChat from *anywhere*(providing of course you have set appropriate port access to your Licq) toaccess your home Licq userlist and all user info WITHOUT having *any* datastored on the client machine. This means if you were in a net cafe for example which ran AndyChat (althoughthis is will never happen), you could just type:/ICQ RMS <my.home.ip> <my.rms.port> <uin> <password>And you will be connected to your Licq at home and have your ICQ users andeverything appearing in AndyChat. All history will be complete too. The bestthing is, nothing is stored on the client computer (besides AndyChat itself),so all your history, users, etc stay at home! And all your messages, files etcget sent from home.Section 1.3 - The Licq Parser (work on hold)=============================The Licq-Parser is very dodgy and should be avoided. It is only for experimenting some of the preliminary ICQ functions in AndyChat. If you do want to play with it, here is what you have to do:(in your AndyChat directory)% mkfifo licq-parserNow edit your andychat.ini and make sure you have the following options:new_licq_usersconf=/home/myhome/.licq/users.confnew_licq_basedir=/home/myhome/.licqnew_licq_bin=/usr/local/bin/licqnew_licq_fifo=/home/myhome/.licq/licq_fifoYou shouldn't be running Licq at this time btw :)Now, you have to be running the X server (unless you want to use anotherplug-in for stuff). I used to qt-gui, so I had to do:% export DISPLAY=:0(X server on current box)Now, just run AndyChat (perl schpati000.pl) and type:/icq parse [uin]And it should (hopefully) load up Licq and stuff, and generate a user's online list on your right, and result status changes correctly. You can also /msg <uin> <message> :)Oh, and as a bonus, nick completion actually turns their nick into theirUIN :)Anyhow, as I say, this is experimental, and unuseable :) A properinterface to Licq will be provided very very very soon though :)---Andrew Macks <andypoo@secret.com.au>Sun Jul 21 03:55:35 EST 2002
