<h3 class="section"><code>.err</code></h3>



   <p>If <code>as</code> assembles a <code>.err</code> directive, it will print an error

message and, unless the <code>-Z</code> option was used, it will not generate an

object file.  This can be used to signal error an conditionally compiled code.
