   The M-files in this Toolbox are User Contributed
   Routines which are being redistributed by The MathWorks,
   upon request, on an "as is" basis. User Contributed
   Routines are not products of The MathWorks, Inc.
   The MathWorks assumes no responsibility for any errors
   that may exist in these routines.

This note includes the following material:

[1] Alterations of M-file and data names
[2] File names of lists in the book
[3] Commands to reproduce figures in the book
[4] Errata of the book

Answer keys for the exercise problems in the book may
be found in anskey.txt

[1] ALTERATIONS OF M-FILE AND DATA NAMES

  The following M-file and data names in the book
have been changed:

   car_da  -> car_.dat
   cell_da -> cell_.dat
   func1   -> func1_.dat
   func2   -> func2_.dat
   GC_interp.m   -> gc_inter.m
   human_capt.m  -> human_c.m
   human_captf.m -> h_captf.m
   kids1.m  -> kids1_.m       (Use also kids2_.m)
   point_da -> point_.dat
   phi_da   -> f_.dat
   resistor_.m -> resist_.m
   stream_da   -> stream_.dat
   vort_da     -> vort_.dat
   wing_2d.m   -> wing_.m   (used in plane_.m See List B.4)

  On unix computers, all commands and M-file names should be
typed in lower case even when capital letters are used in the
M-file and data names in the book. For example:

   Lagran_  -> lagran_
   Cheby_pw -> cheby_pw
   Newt_n   -> newt_n
   GuiDm_1  -> guidm_1

[2] FILE NAMES OF LISTS IN THE BOOK

  The M-file name of List x.y (where x is the chapter
number and y is the list number) is Lx_y.m where "L" must be
typed in lower case for unix computers.
  Most Lx_y files are executable. They can be executed
simmply by typing Lx_y as a command. The M-files under
FM numbers in the back of chapters are found by the
original name unless it has been changed. See Section [1]
for possible changes.

[3] COMMANDS TO PLOT FIGURES OF THE BOOK

   Note:
	  Some m-files to plot figures may not work properly
	  depending on the MATLAB version as well as the
	  computer used.

	  The difficulties are sometimes related to errors in
	  MATLAB: for example, the plane in Figure B.3 may
	  be broken when plotted by plane_ using an earlier
	  version of MATLAB. The fan blades in Figure B.1
	  may become broken if the fan rotor is viewed from
	  a certain view angle. The col_bar may not be plotted
	  correctly on a PC-compatible that has 16 bit color.
	  The same problem may occur with movie_1.

	  Program f2_16 may not work on a PC version of MATLAB
	  because of errors in xyzchk.m, if xyzchk.m is dated
	  3/18/95 or earlier. In this case, get an updated
	  M-file of xyzchk.m

Note that small circles in the following figures are faint;
Fig. 4.3, 4.4, 5.2, 5.4, 5.12, 5.13, 9.1, 9.4, 9.5, 9.7, 9.8.
For example, Fig. 9.1 looks blank unless you stare
it very hard. (This problem was caused because the printer of
the printing house used much thinner lines than the author's
printer. This problem will be corrected in the next printing.)
To see the graphs more clearly in the meantime, the reader
is suggested to plot these figures by running appropriate M-files
(see Section [3]).
