Configure your backup server with afserverconfig /etc/afbackup/client.confor xafserverconfig /etc/afbackup/client.confand / or configure your backup client with afclientconfig /etc/afbackup/client.confor xafclientconfig /etc/afbackup/client.confExplanations of the different parameters can be found in CONFIG. Now theserver and/or client is ready for your backups. Some exampleconfiguration files and helper tools have been installed in the examplessubdirectory. They are provided upstream but not tested by me.If you use the afclient command directly, be aware that the command doesNOT read the client configuration file. You have to supply allparameters on the commandline (e.g. backuphost, location of thecryptkey, etc.). The configuration files are read only by full_backupand incr_backup.The file /etc/afbackup/cryptkey is automatically created from/dev/urandom. If that file already exists/etc/afbackup/cryptkey.dpkg-dist is created. If your cryptkey is smallerthan 21 bytes it is recommended to rename cryptkey.dpkg-dist tocryptkey. Do not forget that the cryptkey file must be the same onclient and server.WARNING:Starting with version 3.3.7-1 the Debian package is built with DESencryption support which is more secure but incompatible with olderversions. That is why you have to upgrade all your machines.--Torsten Werner <twerner@debian.org>
