A better name forthis class would probably be CharacterRepresentation, but "character set" ishow all the Oracle documentation refers to these things. <p>There are no public constructors. To create a CharacterSet useoracle.sql.CharacterSetFactory.There is no notion of "unsupported" character set. CharacterSet's can becreated with any oracleId. However, there is a notion of unsupportedconversionsAnd the current implementation is limited to the smallnumber of character sets for which constants are defined in the class<P>When there are two variants of an operation (e.g. convert vs. convertUnshared)the plain version is the fast (but possibly unsafe) one. <p>The descriptions of methods in this class use the phrase"bytes in oracleId representation". What this means is that the bytescan be interpreted as a sequence of characters in the character set definedby oracleId.
