CodeWarrior IDE Release Notes - Win
===================================

Version: CodeWarrior IDE 5.5
Date:    1/21/2004

Please look at the Known Bugs section at the bottom of this document for more
known issues.

======================================
New features in the 5.5 IDE (from 5.x)
======================================

- New editor bindings
- Ability to show and hide the Code and Data columns in the project window

======
Editor
======
The find behavior has been changed to automatically select the word under the cursor
as the find string without having to use control-E. This more closely matches other
Windows editors.

The control-tab, and arrow keybindings have been changed to be more Windows-standard.

=================================
Hiding the Code and Data Columns
=================================

A new setting in the IDE Extras global preference panel will let you hide and show
the Code and Data columns in the project window. This is a global setting that
effects all project windows..

================
External Editors
================

To use an external editor on Windows:

1) In the 'IDE Extras' panel, turn on 'Use Third Party Editor'
2) There are two command lines to fill out. The first is required and should contain the
proper command name and parameters to launch the editor and open a file. The second should
be the command needed to launch the editor with a file and go to a specific line. Two
replacement variables are provided by the IDE: '%file' will expand to the full path to the
file, and '%line' will expand to the line number the IDE wants to display in the file.

For example, to use emacs, the first command line would be 'emacs %file' and the second
would be 'emacs +%line %file'.

The name and order of the parameters are different for every editor, so the manual for your
editor should be consulted.

==============
Known Problems
==============

The argument list on WinNT when dealing with new custom commands must not
include arguments that are longer than one word.
For example:
	command( One "Two Three" )
will have three arguments which are "One", "Two" and "Three".

When running on Windows XP, Service Pack 1 is required for multi-processor machines
and highly recommended for all other systems. Running on MP machines without SP1
may lead to crashes.
