<strong>Definition:</strong>
A computational problem in which the object is to find the best of all possible solutions. More formally find a solution in the <a href="feasibleregn.html" tppabs="http://hissa.nist.gov/dads/HTML/feasibleregn.html"><em>feasible region</em></a> which has the minimum (or maximum) value of the <a href="objective.html" tppabs="http://hissa.nist.gov/dads/HTML/objective.html"><em>objective function</em></a>.
