大家知道目前最好的web建站黄金组合是linux+apache+mysql+php, 但是在实际工作过程中需要分别下载，安装，配置apache,php和mysql,并且需要根据具体情况修改apache的httpd.conf, php的php.ini还有mysql的配置文件，如果你还需要提供ssl功能，那还得下载正确的ssl apache模块，并定制它的.ini文件等等……这其中的任何步骤出现问题都会导致网站不能正确运行。又是下载，又是安装还要修改配置文件，是不是十分的繁琐啊？！用apache的webmaster就这么命苦？<br>
其实只要有一个Apache Toolbox可以很很方便的使你定制你的apache按您的要求在Apache支持的52个第三方的软件包以及36个模块(不止这个数)中选择。定制的过程完全用菜单驱动，而且都有简单的说明。所有的组件都是用源代码方式安装,在安装过程中，如果发现RPM包有问题，并且你的服务器在线上，它还会用wget帮你重新下载新的可用的组件包。如何，很方便吧。<br>
下面我介绍一下这个好东东的情况以及如何使用。<br>
Apache Toolbox是用shell脚本成的。笔者最新下载的apache toolbox只有42K，最后更新2001年2月23日 版本是1.5.9。下载后解开后有215K,由install.sh(主要的脚本程序２８Ｋ)和bin（放很多模块的定义,解释组成),etc(放菜单，缺省定义等)两个子目录组成。<br>
安装：<br>
1. 到www.apachetoolbox.com 下载最新的apachetoolbox安装包。<br>
2. 解压缩到一个为apachetoolbox准备的目录。<br>
运行:<br>
1. 用超级用户运行 apachetoolbox的 install.sh<br>
2. 在友好的菜单界面中选择你需要用到的apache第三方的软件包或模块.<br>
3. 选好后按继续，脚本开始运行编译过程。<br>
4. (在编译中如果发现源代码有不全现象时脚本会起动wget去试图下载它。)<br>
检查结果：<br>
1. 手工进入apache目录(如cd apache_1.3.17)<br>
2. 执行 make 并观察是否有错误。<br>
3. 如果一切正常，那就执行 make install 更新你的apache服务器。<br>
4. 执行apachectl restart<br>
5. 大功告成。<br>

我觉得用apachetoolbox真的可以节约很多时间，还可以大大减少使用apache的技术门槛。有一个缺点就是它是用英文写的，不过由于写的比较专业，相信对webmaster不是问题。因此，我强烈推荐使用它。古人云：‘工欲善其事，必先利其器’。相信我，去down一个来用吧。<br>
