Some issues can be resolved by the utiliziation/installation of the latest adaptec Driver. Specifics behind the driver, including issues that have been resolved, can be found on Doug's page. To complete an installation follow the instructions under Driver Disk Creation/Usage and Module Installation. Read the entire page before attempting to install.<br>

Driver Disk Creation/Usage<br>
<br>
Go to http://people.redhat.com/dledford/rh62 and download the driver disk image.<br>
Create the disk image.<br>
Unix Box<br>
Insert a blank formated floppy into the 1st floppy drive<br>
Type cat dd.img > /dev/fd0<br>
Dos/Windows Box<br>
Insert a blank formated floppy into the A: drive.<br>
Type rawrite dd.img a:<br>
Note: rawrite is included on the installation CD of Red Hat Linux 6.2.<br>
<br>
Insert and boot the Red Hat 6.2 installation medium.<br>
At the boot prompt for installation type linux dd<br>
Insert the driver disk when asked<br>
The installation should proceed as normal through the remainder of the process.<br>

Module Installation<br>
As a result of bug number: 10418 the adaptec module may not get installed during installation. To work around this when the "Installation has Completed" screen appears:<br>

make sure the Adapatec Driver Disk in in the 1st floppy drive.<br>
press Ctrl+Alt+F2.<br>
type cd /mnt/sysimage/usr/sbin<br>
type chroot /mnt/sysimage<br>
type mount -t vfat /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy<br>
type mkdir /tmp/modules<br>
type cp /mnt/floppy/modules.cgz /tmp/modules/modules.cpio.gz<br>
type cd /tmp/modules<br>
type gunzip -d modules.cpio.gz<br>
type cpio -i --make-directories --no-absolute-filenames < modules.cpio<br>
type cp 2.2.14-5.0/aic7xxx.o /lib/modules/2.2.14-5.0/scsi<br>
type mkinitrd -f /boot/initrd-2.2.14-5.0.img --with aic7xxx 2.2.14-5.0<br>
If on a uni-processor machine skip to Step 15.<br>
type cp 2.2.14-5.0smp/aic7xxx.o /lib/modules/2.2.14-5.0smp/scsi<br>
type mkinitrd -f /boot/initrd-2.2.14-5.0.img --with aic7xxx 2.2.14-5.0smp<br>
